Here are a couple of late 7th series Nagoyas. The top one is an example a pre last ditch configuration. Both have the wood butt plates. The 7th series is pretty cool as far as changes go. I just bought the bottom example to replace one I foolishly sold last year (this one is better!)

Thats a nice one Rob, I was asleep at the wheel when that popped up...lucky dog. Although I am not sure which is cooler, that or the not so late 7th w/ wood buttplate and large recoil lug. Its a buffet of coolness _________________ Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life son. |

Nice rifles , whats with that sling? I have/had a late 7th with a similar strap, and one of the guys posted one a few weeks back (late 7th) and it had that yellow woven strap as well. odd coincidence. Lot of cool variations in the 7th series (6th,7th & 8th are my favorite nagoya 99's). |

Thanks Mike. I really like that upper rifle myself. It's just on the edge of the substitute configuration.
Dave, the first time I ever saw a sling like this was on a Nagoya T-99 Long rifle I bought in Albuquerque, NM in 1971. Some say they are trainer slings but they show up a lot on rifles. _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |

I think that top gun is the varient I dont have ,or mine isnt really good, . The D sight and wooden butt plate. which safety is on that one? Im starting to get my stuff together ,hoping to make a small displayrack , running from series 6 ,("B" sight etc )thru series 8 ,(E sight, late swivel, no t-99 etc)..maybe 12-14 guns to cover the differnt variations, still roughing out my list and figuring what Im missing.

Dave, both rifles have the welded safety. There may be a few more steps in between these two rifles, where the front & rear sights were changed as well as the change in the stock handguard. Interesting things to look for! _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |

Thanks,Rob..I have to sort out what I have, Ive got several S-7 varients. Those little/subtle ones are the hard ones to find ,slightly diffenrt configuration of components (D sight ,welded safety, Wood BP vs D sight ,grooved safety, metal BP or maybe even D sight ,grooved safety, wood bp?, OR Welded safety with the metal BP ) so many possiblities.Just when I think I have them all something new pops up, and thats just one series ,from one arsenal.Several of my friends have implied that collecting by variation is mental illness, beyond normal arisaka addiction, and that I wasnt all that stable to begin with.I guess the guys that lok at you blankly when youexplain you NEED ,2 seemingly identicle 11S's because one has a LARGE screw in the rear swivel and one has the SMALL one..are just never gonna get it...outside of 6,7,8 & 11 nagoya t-99's are pretty boring |

And don't forget there is the three nail and two nail 11th series "rope holes" as well. We're so sick! _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |
