That looks a little 'off' compared to the other one that I've seen. Kanji doesn't appear to have been done with a brush, but I'll let them that's in the know comment. 12 o'clock is '4' and 6 o'clock is '5', I'd guess it means 4-5 Second fuse. Just doesn't look right to me with my limited knowledge. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

This looks like a grenade from the US mine & grenade training kit. I think a few of the real T-97 grenades had this label but most don't. _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage")

It reads 4 to 5 second time delay. I can give you the full translation if need be. As for it being original can't say for sure but the script is not like that on mine. This is more of a block style writing or maybe a stamp.

If this was the grenade that I saw on Ebay, it definately doesn't look Japanese made. as a previos poster said, it may be from a training kit. The castings were really poor. _________________ Life Is For Service |

As promised in another post I was able to get a real clear photo of the paper tag on my modified Type-91 that had the glass covering it. I was able to pop out the glass and as you can see part of the tag was missing but we know that the part carries the number 4. And you can see the script difference that I was referring too. Just as an additional reference point if yours still has the firing chamber on the fuze those same setting should appear.
