I bought an already sporterized type 44 as a beginners rifle for my 12 year old son. I wanted to mount a scope so I sent it to the smith for a new bolt handle and to be drilled and tapped. I picked it up today and he wasn't happy as he said it was the hardest steel he'd ever drilled. he went through 6 bits and broke 2 taps. I'm not happy with the scope mount he used and was wondering if someone had the numbers of the mounts to be used. Either a nice one piece or the numbers for the two piece mounts. Thanks,
Forrest |

Correct bases are Weaver 46 and 54. Tell your gunsmith he needs some new drills - T44 and T38 receivers are not hard to drill, I use regular hardware store drills. If he's a gunsmith he should have carbide drills. riceone. _________________ Most people who preach tolerance are very intolerate. |

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
