I've seen cut-down/modified bayonets and swords, modified holsters, nickel plated pistols and rifles, and sporterized rifles, but I believe this is the first 'sporterized' Smith and Wesson (Japanese Marked #22193 Bottom) that I've seen. It is shown with its younger brother (#62565 Top ) for comparison.

Markings translate to "4046 Armory Administration" (Thanks Edokko!).

Its been buffed, ground, had the front sight shaved, the ejector rod removed, the rear 'sight' modified, and a loading 'groove' added to the frame and recoil shield....Somebody really messed with it.
Poor old Smith! Oh if you could talk!

Please note Ron Curtis is collecting Data on Smith and Wesson model 2's so if you have one, Japanese marked or not, please take the time to fill out the Survey for Smith & Wesson Model 2 pistols for him.

Fill out a Japanese Rifle Datasheet.
I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

Trey, sorry made a mistake on my translation to you. It is correctly " No. 4046 Armory Administration"
