I recently saw a "Folding" stock Arisaka rifle in a gun store. I'm still not sold that it is an authentic rifle. The store owner said there were only a couple hundred made. It LITERALLY has a hinge just behind the bolt. The gun does not come apart, the stock just folds forward. Has anyone seen one of these? |

Welcome to the forum! The rifle you're referring to is probably a Test Type 1 rifle, they are Type 38 carbines converted with a hinge and locking mechanishm attached to the butt stock. The are all from specific ranges in the 4th and 5th series. If you can get the particulars, and pictures of the locking mechanism, internally and externally, a few of the folk here have them and can tell you if its good or not. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Be aware that at least 4 fakes have surfaced in the last year, most in Florida. _________________ 03man |
