Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I was hoping to get some help in identifying what I think is a Japanese artillery fuse. I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and came to a dead end. It looks similar to a British WWI 16/18 pdr shrapnel artillery shell fuse, type N80 but appears to have Japanese markings. I completely took it apart and cleaned it up, the adjustment ring was stuck but now it turns freely if you don't put the cap on too tight. Here are some pics, I greatly appreciate any help in identifying this piece of history!
Also here are some close up pics of the markings:

Welcome to the forum. I'm not up much on ordnance, I'd guess it was a timed fuse of some sort. There is a date, Showa 13 I think, which would be 1938, it is followed by 11 which might be November 1938. Neat item, maybe someone else can chime in with more information. Most of the other marks are inspection marks, normally associated with Tokyo/Kokura Arsenal. In the meantime you might check at EJ's Ordnance Show & Tell pages. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Thanks for the info! I wasn't sure if it was WWI or WWII era so now I know what area to research further. I will post more info as I find it. |

That looks a lot like the fuse for the T-89 Knee Mortar smoke round. It may be somthing else, but that's what it looks like to me. Wanna sell it? _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |

I'll check out the knee mortar too and no I don't want to sell it. I am in the AF and I will be going to Germany for the next 4 years and I plan on expanding my collection while I am over there! |
