We have never seen mounts like these. We need to know what rings will go on these mounts for a scope. All I know this is a customized Arisaka that was custimized in Austria.

These are commonly called "Claw Mounts" and are found on many custom made rifles from Europe. You might try advertising for a set of the rings which have the claws (a male protrusion to fit in the female base), and I think I have seen some new made complete sets of bases and rings, but they are very expensive. What ever you find will most likely have to be fitted by a expert gunsmith/machinist, not a parts changer. Good luck! |

Are these mounts a European "standard" type mount? None of the regular manufacturers have been able to positively identify them for us. We need the rings that would mount to this type of base.
Thanks,

To the best of my knowledge, these bases and claw mounted rings always come as a set that are hand fitted to each other. That way, if you remove the scope, it always goes back to "zero" (or however you had it set) and you do not have to resight in as you do in removing a regular scope. I would think that even if you can find just a set of rings with claws, and not have to buy the entire set, it will be highly unlikely that the claws (male) will properly fit into the bases (female) that you have on the rifle. You might try advertising on line or look in the sight sections of the Shotgun News, or Gundigest monthly newspaper. |

One other thing....I use the term "rings", but actually the "claw (male)" part was permanently fixed to the scope by perhaps silver soldering or some other permanent method. Once installed on a scope, they are not easily removed. |

I'd like to see it too. I expect its a type 30. I have seen some really neat sporters over the last few years. I believe Riceone's $50? T2 is one of my favorites! _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
