Our favorite rodent was kind enough to lend me a couple of his rifles to study for the upcoming book covering Japanese imported firearms from the approx 1850-1900 period. I am preently working on the Albini section and very confusing it is.
The attached two photos illustrate markings stamped on the top of the Albini conversion. The circled stamp is HON and is the usual Army acceptance stamp that appears on many Sniders and Albini conversions. However, the top to marks, reading top down are KAI - "modified" and SEI - "correct". Taken together they appear to indicate "Modification Approved".
Do any of our readers/viewers have similarly marked Albini or Snider conversions?
Frank
