Pic isn't the best.. cheap camera.

I'd like to restore it.. but I need a shop. Sad

anyway.. I picked up another front sight base because the guard
was busted off. Other than that it looks good. The mount where the
bolt release bolts is a little worn.. i need to find a machinists to square that away. A little welding and milling back to specs will fix that. It has
a slight ejection problem.

A little pitting on the bolt handle.. and trigger guard.

Nice rifle, we all started with one. I like 'em a little rough around the edges, they were used, supposed to have a little character! Trey

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

the sight that is...

What a pain... I got the pin in partly.. And cut off the rest.
the base isn't straight. I have to hold the barrel as I turn the base.
I don't have a brass vice add on and I tried a rag.

I'll have to fill the hole on the other side with metal fill.

Go to your local sheet metal shop and purchase a small piece of brass sheet, they might even give you a scrap. Cut it slightly larger than the length of your vice jaws, fold in a "U" shape and drop down between the sides. An old gunsmith in Selma, L.P. Hylton "Pappy" showed this to me years ago. He was born in 1882 and used that all his gunsmithing life. Best Wishes!
