I have a type 44 that needs a repair made to the stock.
What kind of wood is it made from and does any one
have a piece of a broken stock?

First time poster.

Swede, welcome to the forum!
I've mentioned this before, I need to post a 'sticky' about stock refinishing. I'll get someone with first-hand knowledge to reply. In the meantime there is some background here and here. The link to the translation of the Type 38 manual in regards to stock wood went away when gunboards changed their platform. Do you specifically need a 44 Carbine stock, or just a piece of any 38/44 Stock. A picture of what you've got might help out a lot. Trey

Thanks for the fast reply!
A piece of any 38/44 Stock would do just fine.

This is what it looked like before.

This is what I have to work with.

Thanks

I gotcha now. Tokyo, Kokura, or Nagoya rifle? Trey

Got her fixed - doesn't look all that bad and is strong.

Brass, dies, and time for the range.
