Hi all,
I have a issue with my safety. I push it in and it will not turn
to the right. Any ideas? |

I have seen a few safety's that were not matched to the rifle that wouldn't work. |

this one is matched.... I had a turned down bolt handle stick welded on
and I also heated the handle to bend it down some more.
A wet rag was inserted while welding and heated.
I'm wondering if the bolt itself "grew" from the heat , and the safety knob doesn't go forward enough. |

safeties are tricky, if you put one on with the pin but without the spring, you might as well grab twelve of your favorite cool refreshing beverages as you sit down and try to get it back apart. You will eventually get the hang of it, but after so many refreshing beverages, its like starting all over again.
Its possible the block on the pin was already damaged I've seen some that were forced and it distorts the block and actually shaves some off and flattens it out a little larger. Its pretty finely fitted, so if you got the bolt body too hot and it shifted the internal slots alignment in any way, you might have to start filing. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Here we go... LOL
I swapped triggers from another rifle... why I do not know or remeber...
The safety knob was hanging up on the trigger sear.
The trigger that came with the rifle.. the sear.. sat lower than the one I stole from another rifle.
I noticed the sear by getting extra nosy.... I pressed the first stage and
held it.... at the same time turned the safety knob.. and wala... it engaed
very easily, boy did I feel like an @$$
Any whooo...LOL
I also filed down the top of the bolt body to lengthen the travel of the safety knob, to make it easier to engage. After it's engaged it solid. I was concerned that it would disengage accidentally, but it doesn't.
Heck I can disengage it while it's shouldered with my thumb!!
What do you think? |

I'm not sure, what to think. I don't 'tinker' much, it usually costs me much more to fix something after its been tinkered with than to just leave it alone. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Ralph, is this the same rifle you were having concerns about the oversize recoil recess in the stock? riceone _________________ Most people who preach tolerance are very intolerate. |
