This is my Dad's prize....An 1873 Trapper Model Winchester with a factory 14" barrel. He's called it 'My Winchester' since he got it in the mid-70's. I still remember him bringing it home and saying 'its a trapper model it has a step in the receiver'.



I also remember trading a samurai sword for a 16" trapper Model at a local show a few years later. One of 'our friends,' a Mr. So-and-So, offered me $125 for it when Daddy was away from the table. I took it because I'd traded a $35 Pellet Pistol for the sword, then the sword for the Winchester and I knew Daddy would be proud that I'd parlayed $35 in to $125. Mr. So-and-So said he was a friend of my daddy's and Mr. So-and-so said $125 was a good price for a rifle like that in that shape if he did say so himself, and I didn't need to wait on my Daddy, it was my rifle....that same so-and-so never mentioned to Daddy anything about the transaction to the best of my knowledge. What a So-and-So!
