This chute was a pick up when my grandpa picked up his type 30 in the Philippines in 1944. Can any one translate it?

A Japanese friend of mine said it says "emergency parachute for the pilot. letters next to 10476 says unit number". Would a pilot carry a rifle and if so would they carry a type 30? This chute belonged to the Japanese soilder that my grandpa got in to a fire fight with and where he got his type 30 rifle. Any information is helpful.
Thanks

I don't think the rifle would have been carried in the cockpit. I believe it would have been something picked up on the ground to use in the absence of an airplane to fight from. Such neat stuff! Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
Fill out a Japanese Rifle Datasheet.
I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
