Well this was a new one on me so I had to check with our in-house Chinese weapons specialist Dr. Stanley Zielinski in TX. He indicated that the characters translate "Luiyong" in pinyin and indicate something like: "continue to employ" or "continue to use". It probably indicates some time of OK given to use the rifle after the stock repair was made.
Very interesting indeed.

Francis, the Kanji 留用 was used by the Chinese for weapons, personell or any items that were captured and taken into service for the Chinese. |
