I have a 1944 Nambu and think I have found a nickel mag with matching numbers for my pistol. Would this be correct? |

No, you'd want a blued magazine, with the ij inspection mark I think. I'll get Type14 to chime in. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Trey, has you going in the right direction. Need to know date code of your pistol and it would be helpful to know with factory it is from. Only two factory's produced the Type-14 in 1944 and by that time they were using blue mags across the board. There is more to matching mags for the Type-14 than just the numbers. The mags are not all that inter changeable except between factories. I have one pistol with three mags that would match by number but do not fit it properly. Give the date code and serial number or at least the last three numbers and we can be of much more help. There are many of use who have spare mags and you might get lucky with one of us having the proper match. |

I now have my Nambu and the date code is 19.9 and s/n is 57226 it was manufactured by The Nagoya Toriimatsu arsenal and is a 2nd series pistol. How can you tell which factory made the magazine? Thanks. |

There is a list of inspection marks, the one I mentioned, ij is 'RI', I think it is what is on the late blued mags for ToRImatsu (Nagoya) Arsenal. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I don't know if Team Nambu has a datasheet online with all the inspection marks. I'll see about getting one and posting it. In the meantime you can look at the older Type 99 Datasheets , they have some of the inspection marks, that were also used on rifles, illustrated on them. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

As best I can tell, the inspection stamp looks like a poorly stamped Nagoya mark. It does not look like any of the others. It is on the lower left side of magazine below the serial number 006. |

Have forwarded Trey a small PDF file so he can load it. This contains the common inspection marks you will find on a Nambu mag. Dan & Russ are working on a final spread sheet to show dates and factory's associated with each mark. As they do not have it completed thought you might find this useful. It will help identify the marks and proper names. |
