I have a type 99 which I believe is a series 24 from Kokura but it has a different crest on it. it is marked 1946 and has what appears to be a maltese cross type crest on it.

I haven't shot this rifle nor do I have ammo for it. The rifle is chrome lined and has rifling. The bore is 30 cal (not 8mm) It is also not 30-06 nor 7.62x39 (I tried). From there I will assume it is still 7.7 Japanese. Some Arisakas were cleansed and given stars or cherry blossoms. The work on this very good, nearly convincing that it may have been built after 1945, but I'm not that foolish. Does anyone recognize this crest?

that marking rings a bell, but I can't place it, it appears to be a wwII production type 99. Can you get some better pictures and send to me? and please fill out a type 99 datasheet for me and I'll run an article in Banzai next month. We'll get it figured out. Thanks for posting! Fill out a Japanese Rifle Datasheet.
I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
